How far in advance do I need to book my appointment?

Most of the year we recommend booking one week in advance to reserve your preferred session time. Near the holidays, however, two to three weeks is needed to ensure your preferred time. If you need your portraits ready before the Holidays, we recommend you book your session prior to Thanksgiving.

When will my session be and how long will it take?

Appointments are offered daily (including weekends) by appointment only. For outdoor portraits, the best times are generally mid-morning and mid-afternoon.  The typical session lasts about an hour, including setup and breakdown of the portable studio equipment.  Depending on your unique situation, Megan may bring from one to three assistants to help your portrait session flow smoothly.

Where will the session be held?

Most clients have us come to their home.  We have found that sessions outdoors provide the best natural light.  A small backyard or common area can provide amazing opportunities for portraits.  For indoor portraits, all we need is 12-15 feet of space since we bring a portable studio to you, including different color backdrops and professional lighting.  Typically a clear garage or living room will work just fine.

What should I do to get ready for the session?

If you have a high energy pet, we recommend exercising them at least a half-hour prior to the session.  Please do not feed your pet as a partially hungry pet will pay more attention to treats.  If you plan to be in the portraits, we recommend wearing medium tones of blue, green, burgundy etc.  Please stay away from bold geometric designs and plaids. If you prefer to wear black or white, please consult with Megan prior to your appointment.  Finally, if you plan to have more than one person in the portrait, please wear complementary colors.

What do I need to bring to the session?

We encourage you to have your pet’s favorite toy or treats so they will feel more comfortable, secure and photogenic.  We will provide extra treats and props if needed.

How long does it take to get my portraits?

Megan shoots 100% digital, so it only takes a few days to process and edit the raw images.    Megan will set up a separate appointment for you to view your proofs.  After you have chosen your poses, the finished portraits will be mailed or delivered to you within one week (longer for canvas and special orders.)
